OPEN for canoe – kayak and raft trips for Spring 2010 on the Little Miami River at RiversEdge Outfitters.

RiversEdge Outfitters will be running trips on the Little Miami River starting Friday April 2nd , with trips every hour on the hour from 10 am to 3 pm. Same hours on Saturday April 3rd and Sunday April 4th. These days open are dependent on the weather forecast being accurate. The forecast calls for high's in the upper 70's. With the expected water temperature to be near 50 we need the air temp to be in the 70 degree range. While there is no hard and fast rule used by professional outfitters as to "safe" temperatures I use a minimum of 110 degrees combined air and water temp, and prefer a combined 120 degrees. While almost everyone thinks that they will never tip over by accident we have to plan for some portion of our guests possibly getting wet. If this happens the 70 degree and above air temp comes into play- at 70 and above you can get warm pretty quickly standing in the sun on a beach. Staff member Travis and I ran the entire trip length on Monday and will complete our clearing of obstacles in the next 2 days. I will try to blog in the next couple of days and add pictures detailing the clearing of the river for those who might be interested. One final note:if it rains or is predicted on any of the first 3 days open please call before coming out as rain may affect RiversEdge being open.
