Comments for the First of August

We have been busy working in the river removing as many obstacles like fallen trees as possible. We now have the channel on the 2-3 hour trip in great shape. We believe that our section of the Little Miami River has possibly the best water level of any river in the area. Any average weight, or even a bit above average weight people can take the trip and never get out of the boat due to low water. This is great to be able to say, as some rivers are closed due to low water and many places are still renting canoes, but you have to drag your boat many times. Come on out and see for yourself!

July 28 and 29

With the recent rains this week the river is at a great level for canoe kayak and raft trips on the Little Miami River this weekend Saturday the 28th and Sunday the 29th. Temps are forcasted in the mid 80′s and sunny, what a great weekend to be on the river! Hope to see you at RiversEdge!

Update for the Weekend of July 21 and 22nd

We will be open and taking people upstream every hour on the hour from 10-4 both Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd. River conditions are still similar to the previous post with the level adequate to float 2 average weight people in a canoe or 1 person in a kayak and never get out of the boat. I was on the river earlier this week with a staff member in the bow of the canoe who weighs 250 pounds and with all of our river clearing gear total boat weight was in the 550 – 575 pounds range. We only got out of the boat once and only scraped bottom a couple of other times. Of course if it rains a fair amount today or tomorrow it will be even better. Hope to see you out on the river!

Update for week of July 9th

Our most frequently asked question continues to be  ” is there enough water in the river? “  The answer is yes there is.  A moderate weight adult in a kayak or 2 moderate weight adults in a canoe can still take a trip and never get out of the boat.  We might be the only livery in the area that can make that statement, many nearby rivers are vary low and are closed or require constant dragging of the boat.  Our section of the Little Miami maintains a natural channel with deeper water and we also have an abundance of natural springs in this area that are still flowing.  Visiting RiversEdge and floating down the river on a hot day is still a great way to beat the heat!

Yes we are open on 4th of July!

We will run trips every hour on the hour all this week including Wednesday July 4th from 10:00 am till 4:00 pm.   River conditions are probably better than you expect.  While we are at a level more normal for August, most people can still take a trip in a canoe or kayak and never get out of the boat, some might get out once or twice.  Hope to see you out on the river cooling off this week!

Conditions for the upcoming weekend

Yes we are open and running canoe, kayak and raft trips every hour on the  hour from 10-4 this weekend Saturday June 30th and Sunday July1.  We will be open all next week with the same hours, including Wednesday July 4th.  Many people are asking about the level of the river   it is at a level normal for mid August.  This means that 2 average weight adults can still take a trip and not get out of the boat.  Some may get out a couple of times.  Our section of the Little Miami will maintain a canoeable level even through a drought.  Many other rivers are too low to canoe, and some canoe liveries are actually closed.  With the heat it is still a great time to be on the river!

Another great weekend ahead

This Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24 will be another great weekend to experience the beautiful Little Miami River.  Rains earlier in the week have left the river at a nice mid summer level.  Forecast is excellent with sunny days and highs in the mid 80′s.  Hope to see you out on the river!
